odyssy actually started out as a merino apparel company.

kevin had been travelling in asia and xavi had just returned from living in the west coast. close friends and former roommates from university, both were looking to create something greater than themselves.

much of their friendship was founded on countless adventures in and around the georgian bay. canoeing in the summer, hiking in the spring and fall, only to hunt down power at the resorts all winter. it was easy to connect over their shared love of the outdoors.

while the prospects in the world of merino were strong, something was missing. there was no live innovation or personal connection to the fabric outside of respect and appreciation.

while out west, xavi had found more than ever that he was consistently disappointed by the microfibre/synthetic camping towels that were the market standard. after some digging, he came across linen as a viable alternative. sourcing fabric for himself, he asked his mom to sew it up and created the first prototype ecotowel.

it was a work of pure magic.

overnight xavi went from dreading wild showers and swims to actively hunting down bodies of water everywhere! the major test for the prototype was a 1400km cycle tour in the north. where xavi cycled the infamous dempster highway to the arctic ocean and then from dawson city back to whitehorse.

connecting the the vision of a better product, with a desire to create a sustainable company, the pair was set.

and thus odyssy eco began.
